The Powhiri.

Today we had our first powhiri for 2011. Our Principal, Mr Brenton welcomed our new staff and pupils. Some of us were the supporters for the Manuhiri (guests/visitors). The Tangata Whenua (hosts, staff and pupils of Richmond School) sang a welcoming waiata. The new staff said their mihi (introduced themselves) and then the Manuhiri sang a waiata. We then all sang our school waiata, Tutira Mai.
